you’ve got the power.

Whatever stage you are at in your life, it is important to focus on the present and the future. Whatever mistakes you have make, or people who have wronged you, you need to get past it. As the wise Elsa from Disney’s Frozen says “let it go!”

You need to let go of the past in order to move into the future! You are not the same person you were five years ago. It is very likely that you eat differently, sleep differently and even speak differently. But see, change isn’t always bad. A lot of the time, change is good!

Learn to love the person you were and the person that you ARE!

If you have someone in your life that is trying to make you change, and you don’t feel comfortable with it. Then DON’T!

You are in control of your life! You are in control of your body! You are in control of your happiness!

You get to choose what you put into your body, and you get to choose how your body looks! If you’re not happy with your body? THEN CHANGE IT!

Life is simple, but there will always be people that want to complicate it!

Every choice that you make will result in consequences. Whether they are good or bad, depends on how you perceive them!

You need to stop thinking what if, and think… WHY NOT?!

The Biggest Loser: Weight bias and perceptions of health on reality TV

A 2012 study by Domoff et. al. portrayed that viewers of weight-loss reality television had increased anti-fat attitudes and were more likely to promote bias on the basis of weight.

On The Biggest Loser, contestants compete to win $250,000 by losing the most weight through a gruelling exercise and restrictive eating regiment. It has been suggested that the show promotes a “fear of fat” and an idealisation of thinness to scare contestants into developing these idealised bodies. It also proliferates a fear amongst audiences of looking like the contestants – encouraging “fear of fat,” discrimination and body image insecurity in society. Some people, however, do believe that the show promotes healthy living and is motivating for audiences.

The majority of obese Australian respondents to the study viewed the show negatively, saying it portrays stereotypes about obesity, doesn’t take into account genetic or environmental factors to obesity, and “gives unattainable, unrealistic…

trick or treat.

Ahh it’s that time of the year again for FREE CANDY!

Personally, I love this spooktacular holiday!

Well, unfortunately, it’s not really a holiday in Australia, but I feel that a lot more people are recognising it now compared to ten years ago when I was the only kid in the street that went trick or treating. Yes. It was awkward.

Like many of you, I am a self-confessed chocoholic.

I simply love chocolate!

With so many brands of chocolate available at the grocery store, it can be hard to choose, so here’s quick low-down on a few of my favourite brands!

Cadbury: you can always rely on Cadbury chocolate, the perfect amount of creamy and sweet goodness!

Lindt balls: lighter than Cadbury, a lot more milky/creamy and the liquid centre is to absolutely die for!

Guylian: Guylian pralines are absolutely divine! They are a perfect mix of praline and chocolate that create a beautiful texture that melts in your mouth!

Haigh’s: not as creamy as Cadbury but all of Haigh’s products really hit the spot when it comes to a chocolate craving!

GOAL: Have a treat for Halloween!

A puppy can be a handful, but it could also be the most rewarding experience of your life!

Having an excited pup greet you when you come home from a stressful day at uni or work, is really the best thing ever!

Puppies, are great for your fitness and wellbeing! I mean think about it, they keep you on your feet, they make you happy, and you can never be mad at a puppy!

This blog is usually about food and fitness, but seriously, who doesn’t like puppies?!

Taking your puppy to the park for some playtime is also a great opportunity for you to workout your body!

If you don’t like working out with humans, why not a dog!

Playing with a puppy is a great distracting from the pain and chore of exercise.

Having a puppy is just, well, good for your soul!

Seriously, doctors should prescribe puppies as medication, there is a guarantee that they will put a smile on your face and brighten your day!

GOAL: Play with a puppy!

the F word.

And so we continue on with another scandalous topic.

Food.

Food is good, what more can I say?
I have never met anyone who didn’t like food. Food in general I mean, everyone has different taste palette, so not everyone enjoys the same sort of food. However, I have never heard of anyone going out to a good dinner with some mates and NOT having a good time!

Good food and good friends is all that you need. Good friends will let you eat what you want, everything in moderation, and when you work out to balance it all, you’ll see how much happier you are!

Life is about balance. It is your choice and your choice only what you put into your body. You want to eat clean? Then eat clean! You want some fast food? Then get some!

No one is stopping you! The power to control your life is in your hands!

If you want to eat clean, but don’t know how. Seek advice! Take the initiative!
The internet is a magical place. Seriously, just go into Google and type in “how to eat clean” you’ll be set!

In this day and age, food and fitness have definitely become a priority to many! It is very easy to find great healthy recipe alternates that are bound to satisfy your cravings!

GOAL: Try a healthy alternate to something you are craving!

all by myself.

Fun at Five Doc Leisure Centre!

Fun at Five Doc Leisure Centre!

…don’t wanna be all by myself. ANYMORE!

Sometimes, working out alone just isn’t enough for you. You ned something more to motivate you so you can maximise your workouts! In situations like this it would be handy to get a personal trainer. They’re helpful, knowledgable and… let’s face it. Smokin’ hot!

But unfortunately, they’re also costly. So here’s a cost effective idea. GROUP CLASSES!

Many gyms and personal trainers actually offer group fitness classes for as low as $15 per session. Besides the great price (you can splurge on ice cream after), you can also get your friends to join in! You can help motivate each other to be the best you can be!

If fitness circuits and bootcamps aren’t really your style, look into different forms of exercise like Barre Body, Yoga, Zumba and even dance classes!

Here’s a list of cool things you can do to keep fit!

Barre Body: A combination of Ballet, Yoga and Pilates! Check out their Facebook page!

https://www.facebook.com/barrebody

Yoga: I’m sure you have an idea of what Yoga is! If you’re on a budget, there is FREE Yoga at selected Lululemon stores so check out their website because it is all about Yoga!

http://info.lululemon.com.au/education/yoga/?mnid=mn;education;goal-setting

Zumba: A Latin-inspired, fitness dance party! Many gyms and dance schools run Zumba classes!

For casual dance classes, you can go to most local dance studios. Normally they will have classes that range in ability so that you can choose something that you’re comfortable with!

With the right kind of workouts and the right kind of friends, exercise isn’t a chore anymore! It becomes part of your lifestyle!

Make good choices to be the best you can be, so you can become the happiest person you know!

GOAL: Take a fitness class you’ve never done before!

the S word.

Let’s talk about the S word…

No. Not that one.

Selfies.

Believe it or not. There is a certain type of power in selfies. Selfies are like an digital compliment. To be happy, you need to love yourself!

Everyone is beautiful in their own way, it is time that we acknowledge that!

Everyone deserves to be happy, so eat what you want, exercise… and love yourself. TAKE A SELFIE!

With the many accessible apps on Android and Apple, it is so easy to take a selfie and make it look amaze balls! I mean, have you ever seen a bad picture on Instagram?

There are millions of pictures of delicious food on Instagram. There are also millions of selfies on Instagram. It is time to combine them both! Porque no las dos!

So you know what to do, find some friends, have some food, do some exercise and see how you feel!

Friends are so important. Good friends are always going to be there. It is so refreshing to have a nice long conversation with a good friend, especially if you haven’t seen them in a while. Remember, you should always be honest with your friends. If they accept you for who you are, then you know that they’re in it for the long run!

It happens every year. Summer is coming!
Summer is a time for lazy beach days, fresh fruit and not to mention… Ice cream!
But we can’t neglect the fact that we want to look fabulous at the beach!

So here’s some steps on how to achieve a beach body:
Step 1: go to the beach
Step 2: have a body
Congratulations you have a beach body!

In this day and age, we have to be careful not to get caught up in mainstream media. We need to focus on what makes us happy!
Everyone is different, and for some people, a six pack is not on the top of their Christmas list. Yes, fitness is important, but it doesn’t have to be EVERYTHING.

It is all up to YOU. If you are unhappy with your body. Do something about it!
If you are happy with your body. Don’t worry what any body else has to say about it. Whether you are too fat or too skinny is only up to you. It is your body, it is your choice.

It’s summer time, make a fresh decision of what you want to do with your life to make you happy! Be confident! Have fun!

GOAL: Have a beach day!

Now without sounding too much like primary school… Who has a role model?

A role model is someone you can look up to. Your role model may be a celebrity, or a good friend. Role models can help you live your life. Role models can help you make difficult choices… So really. It’s not as primary school as it sounds!

You are the only person who can choose a role model for you. You get to choose how you live and who you live by. There are appropriate and inappropriate role models. Everyone is different, so someone who you admire might not be appropriate for your friend.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence is one of my role models. Unlike other Hollywood celebrities, JLaw is confident about her body and what she eats!
My favourite quote from her is “I exercise so I can eat pizza for breakfast”.
I mean, how many celebrities have you heard say something like that?!
I admire her because she is not afraid to be herself. As a celebrity she is under so much scrutiny by the public, yet this does not stop her from speaking her mind and being herself! She works out so she can eat what she wants!

You must also consider that you, yes you, might be a role model for someone. Some things to consider, be the best person you can be so that other people can follow you. Be happy! Be yourself!

Get inspired and be inspiring!

GOAL: Find a role model!
